Did We Make A Profit With Forest Pastured Pigs?

If you've been thinking about raising pastured pigs on your farm, either as food for yourself, or as a potential money making venture, this video is worth a watch! Pastured pork is definitely a viable way to make some extra profit on your small farm or homestead. Pigs are easy to raise and while they eat a lot of grain, they are very forgiving overall, and perfect for the beginner.

Last summer, we decided to raise 3 pigs in the forest on our property. We thought that by taking advantage of the natural forage, we could spend less on grain for the pigs and sell some shares to offset the cost of the pig for our freezer.

What we found out was that there was enough meat on the bone to not only break even on raising our own food, but that there was enough "meat on the bone" to help pay for the other aspects of the farm like the chickens, garden, or improvements in general!
