Mike Vazquez on “Amazing” #byb17 and the Upcoming BYB vs BKB Card

When speaking to BKN he was asked to sum up the electric night and Vazquez stated, “Like you said, amazing. Really every fight lived up to the billing. A lot of surprises, really. I don’t like to pick them, but I have inclinations of where I think something may go. I was surprised with a few of the fights. So always keeps you guessing.”

When asked what was his fight of the night, Vazquez quipped, “Wow, there was a few throughout the night. Production team, we communicate with them throughout the night and it kept changing throughout the night.”

“Until the main event, it was the - I think it was the Trevor Ollison and Ryan Jett fight. Then it changed to the main event. Actually, it changed to the ladies fight and then it changed again at the main event. So it kept going throughout the night.”

In regards to his thoughts on that co-main event between the women, Vazquez spoke highly on Jozette Cotton defending her Police Gazette Diamond Belt and BYB super welterweight titles against Jamie Driver. Vazquez mentioned how the ladies always bring it.

He expounded upon that point about how sometimes men get punched in the nose and assess things whereby they may switch stances. Whereas a woman in that scenario brings it even more. Vazquez wasn’t surprised by Driver getting up after multiple knockdowns to that prior point.

Controversy abounded in the main event and Vazquez spoke to the commission afterward regarding that. He spoke to judges and referees to see what went down and wanted to know why two points were taken at once from Joshua Oxendine after he broke his hand versus Mark Irwin.

The reason given was inactivity with the broken hand and perceived evasion of the fight. Vazquez says a sequel affair between the two would make for a great rematch considering that the fight would have been a draw without the deductions or even possibly an Oxendine win.

The BKB vs BYB card is next and it should be amazing. It's a stacked night with the best in America vs the best in the UK clashing. There are multiple bouts that could be main events in their own right.
