Using Karate's Sanchin Dachi in BJJ. Advanced Training with Shihan Cameron Quinn

Karate students develop a strong base simply because of the nature of correct training. I remember the first time I trained with Professor Carlos Machado in 1994 and one of the comments he made was how karate guys who came in to train always had strong bases. One of the strongest stances is Sanchin Dachi, sometimes called the Hourglass Stance. The feet are somewhat pigeon-toed and the knees are bent in, aligned with the feet. It provides a very strong base in BJJ when stand-up passing in the closed guard. It is especially effective against the waiter sweep because the alignment of the stance counters the forces being applied in the sweep.

I have done other videos on the Sanchin stance so check them out. The benefits of this stance in training are numerous.
