CANCELED - Sanctuary Cities, Interest Meeting, Artesia, New Mexico, Tuesday, May 30, 2023

CANCELED. About 30 minutes before the 6:00pm event start time, I was told to cancel the livestream by Pastor Scott Pettus and one of the VIPs named Mark Lee Dickson. I complied, as I was in Pastor Scott’s “house”, and must respect him.

This was going to be a larger type of livestream production, professionally produced by myself, with my hands, the time I’ve been given here, and the material blessings I’ve been given. This Spoken Words brand is my livelihood, and my attempt to offer an alternative to people who think “media stinks”, or “media is unfair”, or similar.

As I travel to produce livestreams, I’m at the mercy of the local venues, in this case, the church in Artesia. Days ahead of time: I did ask permission to set up my studio equipment, I asked permission to arrive early to wire my gear (5 hours of setup and cable securing), and finally I asked permission to professionally livestream the event. This was days ahead of time. Pastor Scott Pettus granted all those permissions to me, and a few days later, on May 30, I drove to Artesia, NM and set up my professional studio gear. I offered this as a free/donation based service to Pastor Scott Pettus. As an FYI, simpler shows like this take about 4 days of labor to produce, when all is said and done.

It’s a way for me to show people, in person, that we here in New Mexico can produce professional live events. I pay for these productions, as a way to market the wonderful access we have to good cameras, great microphones, transmission equipment, and such. It’s a way I’m making a reputable living for my family. We can replace some of the garbage on our cellphones with something more decent; that being real conversation, real discussion, real faces of real people. Also, real music, real festivity, real culinary.

Please, contact me to professionally livestream your events. Sometimes I cold call message people and offer to pay for these live productions, as a way to market. That’s when I’m cold call messaging people. Free/donation based is usually how I operate if I contact you. If you contact me, I will do everything I can to find a way to work with you. Sometimes, when I’m asked to “cover an event”, I do ask if there’s a budget to fund the productions. I’m encouraged by the people who believe most in their causes, and find a way to help me when I’m working for them. Setting up microphones, cameras, and video switching equipment, is really what I like to do… with my hands, my time here, and all the blessings I’ve been given. Please help me keep the Spoken Words in New Mexico brand funded in a way that shares the access to people and New Mexico communities that sincerely cannot afford to pay me money.

As I’ve traveled to make episodes here in New Mexico, I’ve come to understand that individual people are begging for decent media. Many of those same people, or people adjacent to them, are under the belief that nothing can be done to “fix media”. That’s not true. My bias, being that I work with media equipment, is that media can be fixed. It is NOT going to happen in the Facebook sandbox. It is NOT going to happen in any other sandbox that’s owned by someone that’s not you. It’s NOT going to happen with blurry advertising revenue. It’s going to happen, “be fixed”, as individual people produce their own media. Right now I use Rumble.com to upload and distribute videos. Spoken Words (that’s me) pays Rumble to have access to their server space. That’s great, and creates a nice relationship for now.

Being told to trash a livestream, as the live countdown roll is happening, hurts. It cost me a normal 4 days of work, just like 4 days of work or any of you in your careers, to produce this livestream. It costs, in part, the reputation of the Spoken Words brand. The Spoken Words reputation is a gift that’s been given to me, and I must attend to it; care for it. The trashed livestream feels like a letdown, it’s definitely unprofessional, and it’s discouraging.

However, the encouraged part of me makes it clear that I must forgive; I must release my earthly anger.

This problem on May 30 in Artesia isn’t about Mark Lee Dickson, or Pastor Scott Pettus, or myself. The problem isn’t about their decision. The problem is a battle between courage and fear, or right and wrong, or good and evil, or the spirit of the father and his opponent. I’ve been so fortunate/blessed to glimpse into the hearts of regular people here in NM. I’ve heard many excuses, many lies, many fearful people, many claims about strategy, many bogus stories, etcetera. However, I’ve heard the opposite of all those things too. That’s really encouraging, definitely. I hope many of you have glimpsed into my heart too.

If you believe in luck, wish me luck, please. If you believe in prayer, pray for me, please. If you believe in the spirit of the father, please ask him to watch over me, and give me wisdom. Right now, I’m sincerely asking for help, I’m asking for in-person guidance, I’m asking for your patience with me. Have patience with me, please. Do the same for each other.
