When Worlds Collide is an anti-nuke propaganda piece.
The (so called) “Plot”
A rogue star named Bellus and her planet Zyra are on a collision course with Earth.
Scientists convince the UN to corporate to save 44 humans by building a rocket ship to take the these fortunate few (selected by lottery from those who built it) to Zyra to settle. Some try to manipulate the situation to their advantage; Others riot in the streets. Most of humanity bands together to build this ark. Martial law is declared and residents in coastal regions are evacuated to inland cities as massive earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis that wreak havoc around the world. A very young boy is rescued from a flood region and is added to the ship’s complement, despite no other involvement in the program. As the spaceship enters Zyra's atmosphere, the fuel runs out; it glides it to a safe landing on a glacier and comes to a full stop. Upon opening the door, they discover Zyra (which wasn’t destroyed by it’s close pass to earth) is lush and green, with a single sign of the glacier anywhere before them. Some kind of building is in the distance.
