House Speaker: deal to raise the debt ceiling is “worthy of the American people”

After weeks of negotiation, the White House and House Republicans have reached a tentative agreement to raise the debt ceiling. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy spoke with the press shortly after the agreement was reached late Saturday night and reported that there is still a lot of work to do but that “this is an agreement in principle that’s worthy of the American people”.
