0005 Polybius Brief Intro

Polybius is one of the most important, least-known figures in history. The founders of the USA relied on his work for many concepts including: tyranny, freedom, division/separation of power/s, checks and balances of power, freedom from external power, and limiting power. Polybius didn't claim credit for inventing the republic (a mixed government of monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy carefully balanced); rather credit is given to Lycurgus of Sparta (~700-750 B.C.).
