Book publishing and reading culture in Turkey

Despite the Covid-19 outbreak, when the number of books published in the world decreased, Türkiye published more books.

According to the Culture & Tourism minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, More than 438.7 million books were published in Türkiye in the year 2021.

Türkiye ranks 6th in the world in terms of the number of titles assigned ISBNs.

It ranks 10th in terms of retail market size.

According to a report, the revenue of book publishing in Türkiye will amount to approximately 731,6 million U.S. Dollars by 2023.

Türkiye is also known for organizing huge book fairs in different cities, particularly Ankara and Istanbul where thousands of book lovers come and buy their favorite books.

Istanbul itself hosts a range of authors and publishing houses in monthly and yearly book fairs.

At the end of this year, International Istanbul Book Fair will be organized from 3 to 11 December.
