British documentary without comment, showing the National Socialist state of Germany from 1933 to 1945 told through a compilation of National Socialist footage, newsreels, propaganda films and Eva Braun’s home movies.

It was briefly released in 1973, aroused violent responses at the Cannes Film Festival where it was denounced as pro-nazi. It so outraged the public that Eva Braun’s sister filed a lawsuit to prevent further screenings.

Prominent jewish newspapers also attacked it, leading to the film’s limited release and eventual obscurity, to the extent that it was almost lost. It was banned in Germany for 37 years and also in israel.
