The Black Sea Fleet reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs arrives at its home base in Sevastopol after carrying out special missions in the Black Sea

◽️ The reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs of the Black Sea Fleet has completed its planned transition from her area of operations to the permanent deployment base in Sevastopol.

◽️ While in the Black Sea since late April 2023, the crew carried out tasks to ensure safe operation of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines in the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Turkey and also monitored the surface situation in the southwest part of the Black Sea to ensure the safety of navigation under the 'grain deal'.

💥 On 24 May 2023, 140 kilometres northeast of the Bosphorus Strait, the ship was attacked by three Ukrainian unmanned speedboats, which were destroyed by the ship's weapons, 14.5 mm guns. As a result of the unsuccessful attack, all the enemy boats were destroyed.

◽️ The call of the ship to Sevastopol coincided with a memorable date in the history of the Black Sea Fleet, connected with the feat of the brig Mercury under the command of Lieutenant Captain Aleksandr Kazarsky, who emerged victorious from the unequal battle with two Turkish ships on 26 May 1829.

◽️ On the occasion of the memorable date, a historical replica of the flag of the brig Mercury was hoisted at the Konstantinovsky Battery as a symbol of the continuity of the Black Sea Fleet seamen's combat traditions when the reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs entered the base.

◽️ The ship will replenish its supplies at its home base, after which she will continue her missions : Ministry of Defense Russia
