Filthy Frank vs Idubbbz: How to End Your Channel

Today, we are comparing how Filthy Frank and Idubbbz went about departing from their old content and old personas.

YouTuber iDubbbz posted a video titled “I miss the old idubbbz.” This was an apology video for all the hateful and bigoted comments and content he’s made in the past. The title of the video refers to the audience who still align with his “old rhetoric” and how they shouldn’t.

Dr. Filthy Francis or Francis of the Filth, simply known as Filthy Frank, was the titular protagonist of the TVFilthyFrank YouTube channel and was known for offensive, shocking, alternative, and filthy humor. Filming himself, his friends, and the bizarre entities living in his house, Frank became the star of his own show: The Filthy Frank Show. An internet comedian, vlogger, Chef, musician, satirist, and absolute madman, Filthy Frank was the edgiest man on the internet. He was described as the literal embodiment of "everything a person should not be". Along with being the former protagonist of the videos, he was also the protagonist of the book named after him; Francis of the Filth.

If you remember last month, I covered Creator Clash 2 drama in the youtube boxing community where IDubbbzTV's charity boxing event "Creator Clash" kicked fighter "Froggy Fresh" off the card in upcoming bout against Chris Ray Gun. Harley Morenstein (of Epic Meal Time fame and Harley Plays) weighed in and gave a strange response.

Idubbbz has completely moved away from his old style of videos to become more cooperate friendly. He assumed that him turning away from that was a “weak and passive way to run my channel” when he didn’t address it. iDubbbz’ apology video claimed he wanted to “take accountability for the mistakes I’ve made.” This was him addressing it.

This “hurtful and damaging content” he referred to was his video section called Content Cop videos. The series involved iDubbbz criticizing another YouTuber’s content or behavior for whatever the reason was. In one Content Cop video which he referred to was fellow YouTuber Tana Mongeau’s use of the n-word. She tweeted at him criticizing his use of it, and he doubled down and found past content of her doing the same.

In the process of that video and other Content Cop videos, he cultivated a “culture of apathy and cruelty as well.” Although, he convinced himself he was doing it for the right reasons. According to iDubbbz apology, he wasn’t confident in his ability to entertain, but the videos were successful. He also excused himself by saying he wasn’t responsible for the how his audience reacted. But in this apology, he takes full responsibility for how his audience acted. It isn’t right to act as he was.

Frank was last seen alongside Pink Guy and Yadaran preparing to fight Chin-Chin one last time. Because of the discontinuation of the Filthy Frank series, it's unknown who was the eventual victor in this conflict, but it can be safely assumed that Frank and his allies were victorious.
