The Results Of My Nes Game Ranking May Surprise You!

My taste in games is pretty locked in, dating back to the original NES. I took a look at 7 popular games for the NES that I like, and a few I don't care for that you may love. Let's take a closer look as I think the result of my NES Game Rankings May Surprise You!

Hudson's Adventure Island 2
I love the Adventure Island series, and Adventure Island 2 is one of the best. It offers a lot of what made the first game fun, plus added a reserve inventory system. It is one of the best of the platform and a game I love that I have.

Batman
Listen, if you weren't around in the 80's I get you probably don't understand why people are excited to see Michael Keaton as Batman in the Upcoming Flash movie, but he redefined the character. The NES Game, made by Sunsoft, was a brilliant adaptation of the character with great gameplay and amazing music. I need to play this again soon but it is SOOOO GOOD!

Rygar
This was one I didn't recall playing and Ryan from Castlemania Games wanted me to get. I did and, well, I don't think Ryan and I have a lot of things in common with the games we like because I hated Rygar. I think the gameplay is not great, I didn't like the level design, and the switch between views was not something I liked. For me Rygar is a pass.

Metal Storm
Man, I LOVE this game so much! Thanks to Retro-bit for bringing this back out, you get to play an amazing side-scroller that is a true amazing entry to the series. If you like Gunpla or Gundam, this is right up your alley. But note, this isn't just a challenge, it's NES Hard, but it also has great levels, amazing music, and is a masterpiece.

Dragon Warrior
Raise your hands if you got a free copy of Dragon Warrior by subscribing to Nintendo Power. Yup, me too. This was my first experience with an RPG and it cemented that this was not the genre for me. I hated everything about this. I hated the play style, I hated turn-based gameplay, I hated the wandering around, this is not the game for me. At. All.

Star Tropics
This will likely be the most controversial choice here, but I did not care for Star Tropics, and yes, I tried. I even tried the 2nd game, but this is far too RPG-y for my personal tastes. I was told it was like the Legend of Zelda, but I never found that to be true. I know people like the NES Addict love this game, but for me, hard pass.

Darkwing Duck
One of my favorite games, not just on the NES but of all time, I actually own 3 copies. One that I bought just to have, one I bought when I was in Germany, and one I bought the first year I went to the Midwest Gaming Classic and Tad Stones who created Darkwing autographed the cartridge for me. I've only ever beaten it once, but I still go back and replay this often.

What are some of your favorite and least favorite games for the NES? Did you have a Nintendo Entertainment System back in the day or do you have one now? Let me know!
