Billionaire Rob Hale, co-owner of the Boston Celtics, surprised graduates at the University of Massachusetts Boston with $1,000 during Thursday’s commencement ceremony. The graduates received two envelopes containing $500 each; Hale requested students keep one envelope and donate the other.
