Bori Wildlife Sanctuary stands as the oldest forest reserve of the country. The sanctuary exists at the foothills of the Satpura Range in Hoshangabad District of Madhya Pradesh. It was established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1865 and has an area of 518 sq km.

Set in a gripping natural environment of Satpura National Park on the north and east fringes and the majestic Tawa river on the west, the Bori Sanctuary is covered in rich flora and fauna. A mix of dry deciduous and bamboo forests cover the region.

The Sanctuary is home to a diverse range of animals that include tiger, leopard, cheetah, bison, sambar, chinkara, barking deer, giant squirrel, striped hyena, jackal, Nilgai, four-horned antelope and a number of other species. The tiger is the prime attraction of this sanctuary. A number of safaris are conducted for the tourists. There are forest bungalows and guesthouses to accommodate tourists.
