Rentals have tripled in price and many slumlords increased rents over the 2% rent cap in place until 2023 when previous tenants original lease was still binding when new owners took over properties As long as they can get away with fraud, they will continue. If your rent increased above 2% in NS, you can have a hearing to collect what you’re owed, that includes power in your original lease.
