Clashes break out between Kosovo special forces and Serbs

Fighting erupted in several north Kosovo towns on Friday, as its special forces clashed with the area’s ethnic Serb population. An eyewitness in the town of Zvecan caught some of the chaos on camera. Footage shows hundreds of people involved in scuffles, while smoke can be seen and bangs can be heard, thought to be police stun grenades. Elsewhere, armored vehicles were reportedly deployed to protect government buildings, classes in schools were brought to a halt, and makeshift barricades were erected by protesting residents.

Serbian President Vucic has since brought the army to a state of maximum readiness due to the situation.
