It's the final showdown between the protagonist and the antagonist, where we finally answer the question, "Who wins?" However, what would happen if the protagonist were removed from the entire climax of the film? Sicario, a 2015 crime thriller, does just this, and it still has one of the best climaxes of the last decade.
