We journey to Marawi City, six years after the devastating siege that left an indelible mark on this once vibrant city in the Philippines. Marawi City, located on the island of Mindanao, was thrust into chaos when it became the epi-center of a tragic conflict between government forces and terrorist organisations.

The siege, which began on May 23, 2017, involved groups such as Maute, Abu Sayyaf, and elements affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS). The city witnessed intense urban warfare, leading to widespread destruction and displacement of hundreds of thousands of residents.

We had the privilege of interviewing an Imam, resilient residents, inspiring survivors, and a dedicated government official, giving you a comprehensive perspective on the true impact of the conflict. The consequences were far-reaching and profound, reshaping the lives of its inhabitants and leaving scars on the landscape.

During my visit to Ground Zero, a once-vibrant part of the city reduced to rubble, we witnessed firsthand the extent of the destruction and its impact on the community. The remnants of buildings and infrastructure served as a poignant reminder of the need for recovery and rebuilding.
