We Threw AN IMMACULATE INNING IN MLB THE SHOW! GO BREWERS!
There's no denying my love for my hometown baseball team, the team with the Best Stadium, Best Mascots, and Best Food, and I'm of course talking about my Milwaukee Brewers. It should come as no surprise that I always play as the Brew Crew when I play, and recently I managed to capture something that is incredibly difficult to do in actual baseball, and really hard in-game. I'm talking about an immaculate inning. Well, We Threw AN IMMACULATE INNING IN MLB THE SHOW with the Milwaukee Brewers and Brandon Woodruff.
What is an immaculate inning you may be wondering? Per the MLB website:
"Three up, three down, with all three batters struck out on three pitches each.
While the "immaculate inning" isn't nearly as rare as it once was -- there were none from 1929-52 and seven alone in 2022 -- any pitcher who can plow through a big league lineup on nine straight strikes deserves a special place in the record book."
I managed to throw an immaculate inning not once, not twice, but three times in one season, and all with the same pitcher. With Brandon Woodford pitching, I threw Immaculate Innings against the Pirates and Dodgers at home, 1, 2, 3. Then, in the next series with the Dodgers in LA, I did it once again! I have about 40 games left in my current regular season, but man, I am loving what Woodford gives me on the bump every 5th game, it's been amazing.
This got me wondering if the Brewers had actually ever really had a pitcher throw an immaculate inning. According to MLB's website it has happened.
• Josh Hader, Brewers, March 30, 2019
Ninth inning vs. the Cardinals: Tyler O'Neill, Dexter Fowler, Yairo Munoz
• Mike Fiers, Brewers, May 7, 2015
Fourth inning vs. the Dodgers: Enrique Hernandez, Carlos Frias and Joc Pederson
• Rick Helling, Brewers, June 20, 2006
First inning vs. the Tigers: Curtis Granderson, Placido Polanco and Ivan Rodriguez
• Ben Sheets, Brewers, June 13, 2004
Third inning vs. the Astros: Pete Munro, Craig Biggio and Jose Vizcaino
• Doug Jones, Brewers, Sept. 23, 1997
Ninth inning vs. the Royals: Johnny Damon, Scott Cooper and Rod Myers
Very cool that 5 Brewers pitchers, including some of my favorites of all-time, have managed the feat. Now, the Brewers have also been the victim of 3 immaculate innings, so there's also that.
Have you ever heard of an immaculate inning? Have you seen one happen in real life? Have you ever pulled this off in a game? Let me know!
