Tend to the Weeds

Shadow work can easily be overlooked in times of flowering season, and so it’s important to remind ourselves that we must tend to the weeds in our beautiful garden, otherwise all the work we’ve done will be overrun by something that was lingering all along. And I can attest that it often feels unfair for how quickly the weeds grow, and how deeply they are still in the soil. Sure we can go to the store and buy some RoundUp to kill it off (aka SSRI’s, Booze, illicit drugs, porn, materialism, complacency, conformity) but we all know that leaves a barren wasteland where nothing new can grow. So as much as we despise it, those pesky weeds just showed up in our beautiful garden and we must get our hands in the dirt and tend to it if we truly want our garden to grow. This reminds us that one of life’s undeniable truths that most like myself often learn in only the hardest of ways, and that is this: what we work so hard to create- all of our back-breaking efforts to plant something new - can slip away from us even when we are blooming and that even our brightest, most magnificent blooms can be overgrown by unattended weeds which often sprout up quickly. Just when you think they are gone, the next day they show up again. Don’t let the weeds overrun your garden grove. Do the shadow work, it’s always lurking.
