Appellate Lawyer Reacts to The "Merritt"-less defense of Richard Merritt (is it a pack of lies?)

Few things so irritate me as a lawyer taking the stand in his own defense against every instinct any lawyer ought to have. Is it ego? Is it arrogance? Is it plain old stupidity? Who knows, but watch the way our defendant here dispassionately speaks about his mother's murder (as if he were discussing the relative merits of "shaken versus stirred") and without shedding a single tear. I'm pretty sure he has sociopathic tendencies on display.
Will the jury be fooled?
