Some patients given 20k to 50k
per day...
-to treat psoriasis and
rheumatoid arthritis
NO CASES OF ADVERSE EFFECTS
-hypercalcemia: high blood calcium
Example: 3 psoriasis patients
-given higher dose

-great clinical improvement
-no adverse effects

418 long-term patients in follow up:
-74 ng/ml blood 250HD3
-avg: 119
-range: 74 - 384
Serum calcium:
-avg: 9.6 mg/dl
-range: 8.6 - 10.5
[normal: 8.5 - 10.5]
"This is within normal range for
calcium in blood"

Compared to group not taking
vitamin D supplements...
-mean 250HD3: 27 ng/ml
"Much lower than those taking it

Blood calcium?
-taking vitamin D: 9.6
-not taking vitamin D: 9.5
NO STATISTICAL DIFFERENCE
