Honorable Jenkins:

My business was given citations with an appearance in court required.

Upon arrival earlier this evening I was instructed to remove my hat. I informed the man that I prefer not to as I am wearing it for religious purposes and as a religious jew I keep my head covered. I typically don’t wear a yarmulke or kippah to avoid ever growing antisemitism. He let me pass only to be told from across the courtroom by a uniformed officer to remove my hat. Wanting to deescalate the situation I left the courtroom and spoke to the officer in the foyer.

I am still in disbelief, that even after telling both officers that I am wearing a hat for religious persons they told me to leave or take it off.
