Federal funding for northern Ontario projects providing HIV, hepatitis C care – May 23, 2023

At a news conference in Thunder Bay, federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announces $30.5 million in funding to support populations in northern Ontario vulnerable to sexually transmitted blood-borne infections. A total of 37 projects will receive funding for the prevention, testing, treatment and care of HIV, hepatitis C and other infections. Marcus Powlowski, MP for Thunder Bay–Rainy River, and Holly Gauvin, executive director of Elevate NWO, also take part in the announcement.
