Microsoft warns China hackers attacked U.S. infrastructure

On Wednesday, Microsoft issued a warning stating that Chinese state-sponsored hackers have successfully compromised “critical” cyber infrastructure in the United States across multiple industries, primarily aiming to gather intelligence.

The hacking group, known as “Volt Typhoon” and believed to be operating since mid-2021, has been identified by Microsoft, CNBC reported.

The organization’s primary objective appears to be disrupting the “critical communications infrastructure” between the United States and Asia.
