The thriving market of second-hand clothing in Chile is deeply rooted, where traders import pre-loved items predominantly from Europe and the US, with a significant resale market spanning both domestically and across other nations in Latin America.

However, this booming industry also comes with its fair share of challenges. Over 50% of the annual import of approximately 60,000 tonnes of used clothes lands in unlawful desert dumping grounds. This practice results in grave environmental and community issues.
