Democrats and Republicans fail to agree on debt ceiling, despite risk of default

US Democrats and Republicans have failed to agree on a new debt ceiling, as the June 1 deadline is getting closer. Despite the Treasury Secretary's warnings the White House remains optimistic that a bipartisan agreement will be reached.
