Details:

The Dewalt DCB1800 is a battery powered 1800 watt portable power station that is fueled by 4 Dewalt 20v or FlexVolt batteries. This perfectly silent unit delivers 1800W continuous and 3600 peak AC power. Making the power source more usable on the jobsite, the DCB1800 also functions as a multiport battery charger for one to four 20V MAX batteries. The charger will charge all the batteries at the same time and will charge 4 completely dead 20v 4.0 Ah batteries in two hours. What makes this simply amazing is that it requires no gas to run, emits no engine fumes or noise.

The Dewalt Portable Power Source creates a 15A circuit branch in a modified sine wave that is compatible with both standard and electronically controlled variable speed tools. The unit has built in protection against overload.

The ability to produce 120v AC power in almost any dry area allows for almost any job to be complete at any location. Beyond the jobsite, a small business can now have quiet power in areas where there are a lot of people. As a power source, this can power 15 amp items around your home when the power is out. Camping or tailgating will now have silent power for coffee makers or small refrigerators.

While this tool has made us excited, like many items there are some things to know about it. First, there is only one outlet. That is not a big deal as we feel in most areas, one item will be about all this will ever be used for. Second, this power source is not a "smart" power source in the use of the batteries connected. You must have 4 batteries in the unit and the power source will drain each battery the same amount. To clarify, our first test with this power source was running a large wet dry vac with (3) 4.0 Ah 20v batteries and (1) Flexvolt 6.0 Ah battery. When the unit shut down, the three 20v batteries were dead and the FlexVolt still had 2 bars of fuel left. So this unit is only going to last as long as the weakest battery in the power source.

When used for charging, one simply plugs in an extension cord to the male 120v plug and the unit will charge up to 4 batteries in parallel. Meaning it will charge up to four batteries at the same time at 2 amps. While it can take upwards of two hours to charge all 4 batteries, the benefit is that they are all charged at the same time allowing them to be removed when needed, even if they are only partially charged.
