Top Critics at Rotten Tomatoes including high profile Hollywood trades and major national publications have scored The Little Mermaid 2023 as rotten (currently at 45%) . That's a HUGE drop from the ALL Critics standing closer to 70%. SO what's the difference? Are Disney Pixie Dusters inflating the score, or do the more experienced and far more highly regarded (by RT) critics have it wrong? Will these critics even have an impact on the The Little Mermaid Box Office with audiences?

Box Office projections for opening weekend put The Little Mermaid in the $110 Million to $140 M estimated range over the 4 day Memorial Day weekend, but where the movies goes from there will up to audience response.

Meanwhile, China presales for The Little Mermaid are abysmal at roughly $13,000 USD , so Disney shouldn't expect much of anything from that country, unlike Fast X and even Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 3.

This film is going to need somewhere in the realm of $800 Million at the global box office to hit a break even given Disney's $200 Million (or more) production budget for The Little Mermaid and easily another $150 Million (or more) in global marketing.
