'Twas the Night Before Segregation 16 December 2021

These are my reflections and words of encouragement on the night before diabolical segregation was mandated in Queensland, Australia and I was officially barred from stepping foot on an educational campus anywhere in the state. This despite being a registered teacher for 23 years and having taught at university.

At the time I uploaded this video, I wrote: "We will not be silent in the face of evil and injustice. We will speak truth and righteousness, even as history repeats itself in the most shameful way."

The next day, on Friday 17 December 2021, my daughter graduated with a Bachelor of Education and we were barred from celebrating together as a family in a restaurant.

Not a word of dissent or criticism of government overreach and oppressive segregation was mentioned at the graduation ceremony by any of the university academics. It truly was a shameful and cowardly period in our history.

Anna turned down two teaching job offers and continued working as a stable hand. I found work in a nursery.

The lives of those us who stood in righteous resistance would never be the same again.
