The NAACP has issued a travel warning for Florida, claiming that the state and its governor are “openly hostile to African Americans.” The warning comes after Governor Ron DeSantis banned the teaching of critical race theory in public schools. The NAACP is claiming that Florida is hostile towards African Americans, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. However, many conservatives are stating that the NAACP has become a front organization for the Democratic Party. Other progressive organizations, such as the League of United Latin American Citizens, have issued similar warnings about the state's crackdown on illegal immigration. It is clear that Florida's conservative policies are a source of contention for some advocacy groups.
