Pressure Cooker Chicken Curry BIRYANI
Here's a recipe for Pressure Cooker Chicken Curry Biryani:
Ingredients:
2 cups basmati rice
1 lb (450g) chicken, cut into pieces
2 onions, thinly sliced
2 tomatoes, chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, grated
2 green chilies, slit lengthwise (adjust according to your spice preference)
1/2 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons biryani masala powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to your spice preference)
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
4 cups water
1/4 cup chopped cilantro (coriander leaves)
1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
Salt to taste
Cooking oil
Instructions:
Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for about 30 minutes, then drain and set aside.
Turn on the pressure cooker and select the sauté function. Add a couple of tablespoons of oil and let it heat up. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add the sliced onions and cook until they turn golden brown, stirring frequently to avoid burning. This may take about 8-10 minutes.
Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies to the cooker. Sauté for another minute until fragrant.
Now, add the chicken pieces and cook until they are lightly browned on all sides.
Reduce the heat to low and add the chopped tomatoes. Cook for a few minutes until they soften.
In a small bowl, mix together the yogurt, biryani masala powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala powder. Add this mixture to the pressure cooker and stir well to coat the chicken.
Drain the soaked rice and add it to the cooker. Stir gently to combine the rice with the chicken and spices.
Add water and season with salt. Stir again to distribute the ingredients evenly.
Close the pressure cooker lid and cook on high pressure for about 10 minutes. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and gently fluff the rice with a fork. Garnish with chopped cilantro and mint leaves.
Your Pressure Cooker Chicken Curry Biryani is now ready to be served. Enjoy it hot with raita (yogurt dip) or any side dish of your choice.
