The absolute fastest way to get your stimulus check is to file your 2019 tax return WITH direct-deposit information. You can find your direct deposit information on the second page of your 2019 IRS form 1040. If you’ve already filed, it’s a very good idea - to make sure you get the stimulus check fast - to verify your direct deposit information. If your direct deposit information is wrong, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. MAKE SURE if you’re filing jointly and you’re expecting a stimulus check as a married couple filing jointly that your bank account is listed as a joint bank account. If you need to open a bank account, you can do so for free at M1Finance and use account and routing number almost immediately that they give you. This takes 5 minutes to do. If your bank account information was wrong or missing on your 2019 return, call the IRS to add it. If you do not have your banking information, you will get a check in the mail, which is slower. If you have not yet filed, consider using a service like the free filing websites the IRS links or, like I demonstrated in this video, quickly file your taxes with H&R Block. If you use your 2018 tax return, your return (I believe) will be processed slower than if you filed your 2019 tax return. Beyond these steps, there does not appear to be a way to expedite your stimulus check - the fastest way to get your stimulus check is to make sure your 2019 return is filed and your banking information was included and is accurate. If it’s not accurate or it was missing, get your account and routing number and call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to add it.
