People's Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier
is running in the Manitoba byelection for the
Portage-Lisgar riding.
The riding of Portage-Lisgar was previously held
by longtime Conservative MP Candice Bergen, who
served as the party's interim leader after the
ousting of O'Toole and stepped down in February.
Candice Bergen won the riding in 2021 with over
50 per cent of the vote. The People's Party of
Canada candidate came in second with 22 per cent
indicating that the party has solid roots in
the riding.
Bernier is up against Bergen's former
campaign manager Branden Leslie.
It will be interesting.
