Guard Passing V: Armpit Control Is Strong -- Training with Shihan Cameron Quinn

Against skilled guard players you can find yourself in an endless cycle of defending their attacks. By pinning their armpits with strong grips you can neutralise a lot of their offensive game by shutting out the ability to use the arms effectively.

Once you pin the arms at the armpits, one highly effective pass that works very well from this position is a standing knee post. Then once the feet are broken apart, you can maintain the grips as you pass either over or under Uke's leg, depending what is offered.
