THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOT A CRUISE SHIP

There are many Scriptures that indicate the people of God had unplugged somehow and were asleep. For instants, the disciples, when Jesus was praying through the night, kept falling asleep on the job, and Jesus had to encourage them to pray. The children of Israel continually drop the ball and lower their defense, which keeps them from mingling with the spirit of the world.
We all know the story that Jesus tells us about the ten virgins. In the story, the ones who went to sleep lost their ability to enter into the blessings and joy of the wedding festivities.
So when I say the kingdom of God is not a cruise ship, I am reminding you that we are not in this to be on vacation or sun ourselves on the decks and drink cool lemonade.
I heard someone say we are not on a cruise ship. We are on a battleship. After all, the scriptures tell us to fight the good fight and the fight of faith.
That sounds to me like there's a battle going on that we need to be engaged in.
What is that battle? If, as we know, the Scriptures tell us that Jesus paid the price, won the battle, and settled the debt. What are we fighting for if the battle has already been won in Christ?
I'm sure you're aware that those who rob banks know it is illegal. And the penalty if they get caught in jail time. So why do they do it? The main reason they do it, besides their greed for money, is that they are rebels.
That's why any city with its act together has a strong police force to keep the rebels in line.
Jesus has paid the price. The battle has been won, but you and I are the police force to bring the rebels into the kingdom of God. This battleship that we are on speaks of authority and strength. Wherever we go and whatever we do, that authority will bring peace to the region that we are in.
