Ukraine's Zelensky Criticizes Arab Leaders for Turning a Blind Eye to Russia's Invasion

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, attending an Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia, accused certain Arab leaders of ignoring Russia's invasion of Ukraine. While Syria openly supports Russia's invasion, other Arab League nations have sought to maintain good relations with Moscow. Zelensky urged these states to reflect on their ties with Russia, emphasizing the need for an honest look at the situation.

He also invoked the Arab world's history of invasion and occupation, stating that Ukraine is defending itself from colonizers and imperialists. Saudi Arabia, the host nation, has supported a UN resolution for Russia to withdraw its troops and provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine, while maintaining neutrality on the conflict. Zelensky also criticized Iran for allegedly supplying drones to Russia.

After the summit, Zelensky will travel to Japan for the G7 summit, where he aims to secure military support and advanced fighter jets for Ukraine. The G7 leaders have already announced further sanctions against Russia and pledged new steps to stop the war in Ukraine.
