John Wayne Gacy, also known as the "Killer Clown," was an American serial killer who was active between 1972 and 1978. Gacy was born on March 17, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, and he was raised in a working-class family.

Gacy led a double life. On the surface, he appeared to be a successful businessman and community member. He owned a construction company and was actively involved in local politics. However, beneath this facade, Gacy committed a series of horrific crimes.

Gacy's modus operandi involved luring young boys and teenagers to his home with the promise of work, money, or simply by impersonating a police officer. Once at his home, he would sexually assault and murder his victims. Gacy would often strangle his victims or use other methods, such as suffocation or stabbing.

After killing his victims, Gacy buried most of them in the crawl space beneath his house. Eventually, the smell and disappearance of young men caught the attention of the authorities. In December 1978, Gacy was arrested and the bodies of 29 victims were discovered on his property.

Gacy was convicted of multiple counts of murder and sentenced to death in 1980. During his trial, he gained notoriety for his clown persona, as he had often performed as a clown at children's parties and charitable events. He was executed by lethal injection on May 10, 1994.

The case of John Wayne Gacy is one of the most infamous in American criminal history. It highlighted the existence of serial killers and the potential for evil that can lurk behind seemingly ordinary facades. Gacy's actions had a profound impact on the families of his victims and the community as a whole.
