I need no QUEEN! 1834 World Chess Championship [Match 4, Game 14]
9
This is the fourteenth game of the fourth 1834 unofficial world chess championship match between Louis-Charles Mahé de La Bourdonnais and Alexander McDonnell.
This one is an exciting Evan's Gambit with a lot of back and forth.
McDonnell decides early on that he doesn't need his queen!
Is he right? Can he leverage the advantages that he has and get back into the match, or will La Bourdonnais punish him and move even closer to victory?
Today, we have a returning guest commentator, and some genunine non-chess news from 1834.
