The nightmare that is job hunting for a white collar job these days

There are a lot of layoffs and hiring freezes occurring. Employers are slowing down hiring for every level from receptionists to CFOs. When employers are looking to hire, the processes moves excruciatingly slowly. Employers impose new requirements ranging from more required years of experience to higher test scores on technical tests. Some job hunters are reporting eight and nine rounds of interviews. It is now possible to sink 20 hours in interviewing for a single job. However, three to four interview rounds is the norm at this point. For many people, including myself, I’ve never seen employers moving so slowing and making job applicants jump through so many hoops.
LinkedIn allows you to see how many people have applied to job posting on its site. Look for a job you want to apply for. I bet there are over 1,000 people applying for that same job. If you think I’m exaggerating, go ahead and look at a few job postings now.
