Wells Fargo, a prominent banking institution in the United States, has reached a settlement of $1 billion to resolve a class-action lawsuit related to illicit activities that regulators claim the bank engaged in against the American public. The settlement arises from a range of fraudulent practices that Wells Fargo systematically employed to harm its customers, as determined by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). In December, Wells Fargo previously agreed to pay a historic fine of $3.7 billion to the CFPB for unlawfully freezing customer accounts, imposing unauthorized fees, initiating unauthorized customer account openings, and wrongfully repossessing vehicles.
