Welcome to the Carne Asada Bowl pool skateboarding adventure. It’s a Swan Amoeba Pool brought to you by Dave who apparently found this years ago and sat on it until it was ripe for the picking and then brought us in to enjoy the spoils. I am here to share this experience with you 20 years later. During that time span we lost one of our soldiers, Barham Mohrid was one of our best friends at that time and he bought a lot of flavor to the skateboarding sessions coming from northern California and already knew how to skate when he moved to Riverside to go to school which is how I knew him as a fellow skater and student. He really honed his backyard pool riding while living in Riverside and skating the badlands and I’ve got a handful of sessions in his early years and this is a little later on when he had already got the frontside slash down and he cut his hair to get a little more aerodynamic, but this pool needed a really bad resurface. The cancer was eating away, and really making any kind of smooth lines challenging, and outside of that you know the Ladyfinger coping grinds good enough, but you know we don’t wax anything or do anything to aid the grind on that type of stuff, so it’s about raw as it gets. Was this pool any good for skateboarding in the end? YES absolutely even if the surface is mildly destroyed.
