DAY15: Blended Gospels- Peter’s Hesitation- Give Thanks Always to God- Communion is Life

Feeding the Five Thousand- Matthew 14:15-23; Mark 6:35-46- Luke 9:12-17- John 6:4-15

Jesus teaches us in Matthew 14:19- that we should never eat anything without first giving thanks to God. According to the commentary of the Orthodox study Bible the terminology is pointing to the Last Supper (Matthew 26:26) and it leads to a Eucharist interpretation of this miracle. The DISCIPLES distribute the bread TO THE MULTITUDES, Christ feeds the Eucharist to His flock through the hands of His bishops and priests.

I always pray this before eating a meal or even receiving food or drink from someone, I pray "Blessed are You Lord our God, King of the Universe Who brings forth the fruit from

the vine, You are the true Vine and we are the branches." Than I pray the Lord's Prayer and close with this "Christ our God bless this food and drink of Your servant because you make all this Holy now and forever onto the ages of ages Amen!!!"

Walking on the Water- Matthew 14:24-36- Mark 6:47-56- John 6:16-21

It's Peter's faith that allows him to walk on the water. Peter does not ask to walk on water per se, but instead just wanted to be with Jesus, and his desire wasn't about performing miracles instead he just wanted to be with his Lord. Peter would have enjoyed the participation in walking on the water if he only kept his focus on Jesus. Peter had DOUBT- Greek term for dounbt is "wavering or "Hesitation". The cause of Peter's sinking was not his faith or even the storm but it was his doubt, Christ rebukes Peter and not the storm.

The Bread of Life- John 6:22-59

Christ was crucified in the flesh and His blood was shed on the cross and on the third day was raised to His glorified state. We receive God's grace by coming to Him in faith (see v. 35 here in John 6) and also by receiving Holy Communion in faith. Communion, is when we truly EAT HIS FLESH AND DRINK HIS BLOOD, AND THIS GRANTS THE FAITHFUL ETERNAL LIFE (see v. 54; here in John 6), with Christ abiding in us and us in Him (see v. 56- in John 6).

"There is no room left for any doubt about the reality of His flesh and blood, because we have both the witness of His words and our own faith. Thus when we eat and drink these elements, we are in Christ and Christ is in us." (HilryP).

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
