Daniel 11: The King of the North

In Daniel 11, the "King of the North" and the "King of the South" are figures who emerged from the dissolution of Alexander the Great's vast empire. These figures, often identified with the Seleucid and Ptolemaic Empires respectively, are seen as a part of the prophetic narrative that anticipates the arrival of the Antichrist.

The "King of the North" is generally interpreted as the ruler of the Seleucid Empire. This empire, located in the northern regions of Alexander's former territory, included parts of modern-day Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

The "King of the South," on the other hand, is often associated with the Ptolemaic Empire. The Ptolemies ruled Egypt, the southernmost region of the Hellenistic kingdoms.

The prophecies in Daniel 11 offer a detailed account of the conflicts and alliances between these two dynasties, their respective rulers symbolically standing for powers or systems rather than specific individuals. As the narrative unfolds, the climax leads to a portrayal of a figure with vast power and malevolent intent, interpreted by many as a prophetic anticipation of the Antichrist. This figure appears to adopt characteristics from both the "King of the North" and the "King of the South," symbolizing a universal threat rather than a regional one.
