Castillo opponents and supporters gather next to Congress as president addresses nation

Peruvian President Pedro Castillo's opponents and supporters gathered outside the Congress in Lima on Thursday, while Castillo was addressing the nation from the building.

Protesters for and against Pedro Castillo could be seen gathering on Abancar Avenue, wearing Peruvian national team shirts, as well as Peruvian flags.

Shouting "Castillo out, out!" hundreds of Anti-Costillo protesters demand the resignation of the leftist president.

Meanwhile, the president's supporters gathered close to opponents to express their support for him.

In his address to the nation, the Peruvian president defended his policies and attributed the five investigations against him for corruption to a media campaign against him.
