Checking last year's budget can help you catch surprises. If you have expenses that only come up once per year (I am looking at you Amazon Prime Subscription), they can be easy to forget. Instead of setting up endless notes to sift through, just look at last year's budget. This makes catching semi-annual premiums and annual events much easier.
