I am The Terrible Truth!

I am the Terrible Truth, see my steely visage shine,
With march relentless, I thread through time's fine line.
I come, I come, in silence or sudden din,
I to your "safe" home's door, and softly, I step in.
Held at bay, with stoic attempts you try,
A tempest suppressed beneath your tranquil sky.
Yet truth, like a wind, through cracks it will seep,
In the quietest moments, it stirs you from sleep.
All ribbons fray and rainbows will fade,
I am the dusk that follows the charade.
I am the realisation of the untamed wave,
The echo in the silent cave.
You want to hide in tales spun of silk,
In a world where honey is sweet and milk is just milk.
Yet I, the shadow, to your sun's gleaming streak,
The Terrible Truth, it is me you must seek.
Grand delusions, oh, they've served you well,
In the merry-go-round where comforting stories dwell.
You paint your life in hues of cheer,
But I am the palette of your honest fear.
In your history, decrepit, I discern your lies,
In your saint-like claims, your sins arise.
I know the darkness you've committed under the sky,
The truth, the reality, behind your every sigh.
An adult, indeed, you've come to be,
Yet within your heart, a child I see.
Fearing the darkness, craving the light,
In your world of make-believe, I am the knight.
For I am the journey, I am the path you trod,
I am the balance, the gentle, yet firm, plod.
I am the Terrible Truth, your fears unshod,
I am coming, dear heart, I am coming, by God.
In every sunlit smile, every tear in the night,
In your deepest despair, your highest flight,
I am the balance, the unending tune,
I am coming, my friend, I am coming soon.
