Star Wars: The Siege of Mandalore & Revenge of the Sith (Fan-Edit Supercut)
Witness the end of The Clone Wars, the fall of the Republic, and the birth of the Empire, in my 4-hour-long supercut fan-edit, combining STAR WARS: EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH (2005) concurrently with the final four installments of THE CLONE WARS animated series (2020) in 4K Ultra High Definition.
When switching between Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars scenes, I tried to strike a balance between what would make for the smoothest transitions, while also keeping the chronology and tonal change in mind. Each transition is the absolute smoothest I could possibly make them, and most of them came out to my complete satisfaction. The Battle of the Heroes sequence at the end I am especially proud of, cutting between all three battles over the two mediums seamlessly.
I added a layer of film grain over the entire edit, to give a stronger uniformity between the live-action and the animation, and also because I just like the filmic look of grain in general.
I removed the 'Revenge of the Sith' opening crawl, and opted to use only 'The Clone Wars' opening narration montage, since it leads directly into 'The Clone Wars' sequence that is chronologically first, and the film's crawl would not fit with that sequence. Plus, General Grievous has never looked better than in the one brief shot in the opening narration.
One establishing shot of Padme's apartment skyscraper building that is shown during the scene of Anakin and Padme silently "sensing" each other has been removed from its original location, and repurposed to serve as the establishing shot of a deleted scene featuring the senators of the delegation of the 2,000, which also takes place at Padme's apartment. I then color-corrected the shot to change it from the original orange afternoon/sunset to the blue sky of midday, to match the time of day of the deleted scene. I had removed the shot in its original placement anyway, because my edit hard-cuts back to Ahsoka's shuttle boarding the venator, and it was jarring to have two different establishing shots in a row, but it works absolutely perfectly for its new placement, considering the deleted scene needed an establishing shot anyway.
I have cut just a few seconds at the end of the Order 66 sequence, right after when Yoda decapitates the clone troopers. I have cut the Wookies roaring in confusion and Yoda hopping onto their backs, and opted to do a hard-cut back to Captain Rex right as Yoda’s lightsaber disengages, which makes for a more engaging cut, and fits better for pacing and tone.
The opening "STAR WARS" and "STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS" side-by-side logos were taken from u/AranFever's amazing "The Fulcrum Cut", as well as the masterful “Ahsoka senses Anakin" scene. The Revenge of the Sith deleted scenes are the upscaled renders from Mecha Salesman on YouTube, and the "Qui-Gon speaks to Yoda" voiceover is from HAL 9000's "Labyrinth of Evil".
I hope you enjoy!
