You Missed THIS Easter Egg in Super Mario Bros Movie

The Super Mario Bros movie is now out on video on demand and digital and many people are able to see it for the first time, or for their 41st time. We absolutely love this movie, it is so much fun and we have enjoyed seeing it again at home. One of the things that's so very awesome about this movie has been all of the different Easter eggs that Illumination and Nintendo have added to this movie. One of my favorites, Diskun.

What the heck is Diskun you might be asking. Fair question, Diskun was one of Nintendo's early mascots, but only in Japan. While we had the Nintendo Entertainment System, in Japan they had the Family Computer or the Famicom. They released an accessory for it called the Famicom Disk System. To help promote it and get people talking about it, Nintendo came up with a cute mascot that looked like a 3 1/2-inch floppy disk. His name, Diskun.

In the movie, just as Mario, Luigi, and Bowser enter Brooklyn, New York there is a store in the background that Donkey Kong, Toad, and others get blasted by. The sign on that store? Disk-Kun Hardware Co. That's right, they put this super deep cut that only those who imported systems into the US or those in the Japanese market would recognize. Diskun is one of my favorite pieces of Nintendo memorabilia, it was one of the first things I ever 3D printed, so I love the fact that they added him into this amazingly wonderful movie.

Did you notice this sign and store in the background? I didn't see it until our second viewing. How many times have you seen the Super Mario Bros Movie? Have you bought it on digital? Let me know down in the comments!
