Airbnb announced a summer product update that puts the focus on private rooms.
For about half the population, travel remains a high priority. However, about half of people report that high prices are keeping them from traveling. Therefore, it may be concluded that travelers are looking for good deals.
Private rooms are a good choice for consumers that want to travel but are on a budget. The number of private rooms are about 55% to 60% of the amount of single bedroom entire home listings.
Private rooms in areas with the most as a percentage of whole home rentals have rates that are usually $60 to $80 lower per a night than a single bedroom entire home. That is to say, the more private rooms there are in a market, the more travelers save on the price. In markets were there are a lot of private rooms, travelers can save more than 50% over an entire home / studio.
In contrast, the less private rooms there are, the less of a discount there is between the private rooms and entire homes / studios. In some of these markets, private rooms are only 15% to 24% less than a single bedroom home.
